"Nightfall" Readme To play "Nightfall" you will need an interpreter capable of playing Glulx games. On Windows the safest choice is probably Windows GLULXE, or Windows GIT on which the game has been tested without any obvious problems coming to light. Version 4 of Nightfall has been recompiled with Inform 5Z71 to take advantage of the acceleration offered by the latest versions of GLULXE and GIT. For the best performance, use GIT. So far as I can tell, "Nightfall" also plays without problems on FILFRE, though this has not been so thoroughly tested. On OS/X the game has been tested on both ZOOM and SPATTERLIGHT without any serious issues coming to light. There appears to be an issue with Zoom recording transcripts using the SCRIPT command, in that the transcripts contain the game's responses but not the player's commands. This is due to be fixed in the next version of Zoom, and in any case a complete transcript can be output via Zoom's File menu, so this should not be a major issue. In addition to this file you should have Nightfall.gblorb (the game file itself), Nightfall Walkthrough.txt (a walkthrough, should you need it) and Nightfall Map.pdf. The map represents the state of the player character's knowledge of the city at the start of the game, so there are a few locations not shown; there is sufficient space near the top of the map to add these should you wish to. The main purpose of the map to is save players who do not wish to draw their own the trouble of doing so. Finally, I hope you enjoy playing "Nightfall", but if you encounter any bugs or other problems and would like to let me know about them, you can email me on eric.eve@hmc.ox.ac.uk. If you are also able to send a transcript illustrating the problem, that would be wonderful. Eric Eve 25 Apr 2009
